[Construction Example] FRP Stair Deck, Senagajima Evacuation Route and Promenade

Here are examples of the installation of "FRP Stair Deck" in Okinawa Prefecture. The "Senaga Island Evacuation Route and Promenade," completed in March 2015, is a promenade that also serves as an evacuation route connecting the elevated area of an island linked by the underwater road to the lower road. FRP, which blends into the surrounding natural landscape, has been adopted. In addition, in June 2016, "Nakagusuku Park (Route 2)" was constructed at the Nakagusuku Castle ruins, designated as one of Japan's 100 Historic Castles, with a focus on material selection for strength, durability, and salt damage resistance. As a result, FRP materials were used for all structural components and flooring of the promenade and observation deck. There are also many other installation examples, including the stairs at "Aguni Island Yahija Beach" and the promenade deck in "Banna Park Zone A." Lightweight and ultra-high! Introducing case studies of FRP materials that can withstand salt damage even in strong winds from the sea!

We introduce a construction example of the "FRP Stair Deck" at Yahija Beach on Aguni Island, Okinawa Prefecture. This island is located about 60 km east of the main island of Okinawa, and we have developed a staircase leading to the famous Yahija Beach on the island. We used lightweight, high-strength FRP material that is resistant to salt damage, capable of withstanding constant strong winds! As an example of the construction of the "FRP Stair Deck," we introduce Nakagusuku Park (Pathway No. 2) in Okinawa Prefecture. Located at an elevation of 150 meters, it is designated as one of Japan's 100 Historic Castles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and offers views of the Pacific Ocean and other scenic spots. To allow everyone to stroll through the park, plans were made for walking paths and observation decks.
